Expansion will welcome more Disney Vacation Club Members home just steps from Magic Kingdom Park
Celebration, Fla. (Sept. 30, 2021) – On the eve of the start of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Vacation Club provided a touch of Victorian charm and splendor with a preview of the rooms that members will call home at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa with an enhanced and expanded offering coming in the summer of 2022. The enhancements include approximately 200 units of proposed resort studios, a Disney Vacation Club room type unique to The Villas at the resort, and newly refurbished deluxe studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, and three-bedroom grand villas.
Celebrated for its 1890s Victorian architecture and elegance, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa sits on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon and is located in the heart of the magic. The resort is literally steps away from the excitement via a new walkable promenade leading to and from Magic Kingdom Park. Guests can also access the monorail, buses, and water taxi services directly from the property to travel throughout Walt Disney World Resort.
At the resort, families also enjoy relaxing and entertaining activities nearby, such as watercraft rentals, a sports court with a half basketball court, and swimming at the Courtyard Pool or the Alice In Wonderland-themed water play area. Dining at Citricos or Narcoosee’s and watching a favorite Disney film together outside during movies under the stars screenings are popular resort activities. Guests at the resort may enjoy a glimpse of fireworks over Cinderella Castle.
“We’re excited to share more information about the enhancements coming to The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, offering a diverse inventory at a resort that is cherished by our members and their families,” said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Vacation Club and Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. “This expansion is a reflection of our continued growth and commitment to providing guests more opportunities to make magical vacation memories year after year.”
All accommodation types will be available to Disney Vacation Club Members. The proposed new resort studios will feature two queen-size beds and a day bed. Guests will enjoy design touches like quartz countertops, ornate crown molding, luxury patterned tile, a flat-screen TV, a beverage center with a beverage cooler and coffee maker, and a gleaming bathroom with marble tile floors and a combo bath/shower.
The refurbished deluxe studios, which can accommodate up to five guests, will be outfitted with new luxurious textiles and feature a queen-size bed, a new pull-down queen-size bed that tucks away seamlessly into the wall, and a charming pull-down bunk-size bed – perfect for the little ones. A full split bathroom features separate private areas, with a shower and sink in one, and a tub in the other. Deluxe studios also come complete with a kitchenette that includes a wet bar, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and a flat-panel TV.
For an even grander stay, families will enjoy added luxuries in the refurbished and spacious one- or two-bedroom villas. These accommodations offer full kitchens and large living areas as well as added conveniences – like modern appliances, a farmhouse sink and a washer and dryer. Living areas will feature a new pull-down queen-size bed along with a pull-down bunk-size bed that folds away to be hidden beneath the media center. A one-bedroom villa sleeps up to five, with a comfortable king-size bed in the primary bedroom. A two-bedroom villa sleeps up to nine, with the addition of two queen-size beds in a second bedroom. Each primary full bathroom has a freestanding bubble-jet bathtub and a walk-in rain shower.
For families and multi-generational vacations, guests will enjoy plenty of room and comfort in the three-bedroom grand villa with new design touches. These generous accommodations sleep up to 12 guests, with two bedrooms that include two queen-size beds each, along with a primary bedroom that features a king-size bed. Three-bedroom grand villas also boast a spacious dining area and expansive living room with a large, flat-panel TV, home theater system, and an additional queen-size sleeper sofa. Most accommodations will feature a porch or balcony with porcelain tile floors where guests can relax and take in the resort’s iconic scenery.
Charming accents in the rooms include Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Victorian-themed silhouettes and other artwork featuring Mary Poppins and Dumbo. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is an idyllic setting where all guests are welcome to return and stay magical year after year. Throughout 2022, all room types across the entire resort property will receive a refurbished update creating a grand look and feel for all guests and Disney Vacation Club Members to enjoy.
